  • Mashikokan Satoyama Resort Hotel
  • I'm going to a Mashiko-yaki and Kasama-yaki event. Are there any cheap lodgings you'd recommend in the area?

I'm planning to go to Ibaraki Prefecture and Tochigi Prefecture in the fall to visit pottery-producing areas. I'm planning to go to Mashiko and Kasama, but I haven't decided which order to go to first. Where should I stay? I'm looking for a place to stay for under 6,000 yen a night.

Mashikokan Satoyama Resort Hotel

243-3 Mashiko-ikeshita,

  • This is an inn that incorporates Mashiko pottery.

  • The hot spring water is poured into a large Mashiko pottery jar, making this an irresistible inn for pottery lovers. Of course, Mashiko pottery is also used for the meals, and hot and cold dishes are brought out one after another to the point where you'll be saying "That's enough!" In the lobby, a band is playing, sung by the proprietress in a kimono. They sang Happy Birthday for the birthday child (a guest), and we all clapped along. It was a heartwarming inn.

Hotel Route Inn Mooka

2-34-5, Nagata, Mooka-city

  • I recommend staying in Moka, which is located almost halfway between the two cities.

  • Previously, I looked for accommodations in the area to experience making Mashiko pottery. However, there were few hotels in Mashiko or Kasama that cost less than 6,000 yen. So I thought I'd stay in Moka, which is almost halfway between the two. It may depend on whether you travel by car or train, but the Hotel Route Inn Moka was comfortable, with a large public bath and breakfast included. The price was also reasonable.

City Hotel Tomobe

  • Beautiful and spacious rooms are attractive

  • There are few lodgings in the Mashiko and Kasama areas that are affordable, so I recommend the City Hotel Tomobe near Kasama. I stayed there when I arrived early to play golf, and the spacious room was clean and comfortable. It is about an 8-minute drive from Tomobe Station on the JR Joban Line.

Super Hotel Mito

Izumi 3-7-24

  • This is a hotel where you can relax in the large public bath and relieve your fatigue.

  • If you are traveling by car or taxi, we recommend a route that goes around from Tochigi to Ibaraki. In that case, we recommend staying in Mito. There are many hotels and you can find a room with good value for money. This hotel has a large public bath, so you can relax and unwind. The free breakfast is delicious and will give you energy.
