  • married couple and I would like to visit Izumo Taisha Shrine and then stay at Tamatsukuri Onsen. Are there any recommended lodgings?

married couple and I would like to visit Izumo Taisha Shrine in Sanin and go around Matsue and Lake Shinji. Our budget is 20,000 yen per person. Please let me know where we can stay at a relaxing inn. We want to spend the night relaxing, so we would like to stay at a Japanese-style inn in Tamatsukuri Onsen.

Tamatsukuri Grand Hotel Choseikaku

331 Tamatsukuri, Tamayu-cho, Matsue-shi

  • There is a rare agate bath.

  • Conveniently located just a few minutes walk from the Tamazukuri Onsen bus stop. The rooms are Japanese-style and relaxing. The bath is paved with agate, a specialty of Tamazukuri. There is a popular belief that the stones are imbued with some kind of power through the long process of shaping and polishing. The roughness of the stones also has the benefit of stimulating the acupressure points on the feet. The cuisine includes seafood from Sanin. For breakfast, you can enjoy homemade bread. I think it's rare to find Ryokan (Japanese inn) that even makes its own bread. Ryokan (Japanese inn) offers good value for money.

Matsue Urban Hotel

590-3 Asahi-machi

  • Located on the shores of Lake Shinji, transportation is convenient and affordable.

  • I stayed here when I went on a trip to Izumo Taisha Shrine and Matsue. It is very convenient for day trips to Izumo Taisha Shrine and for touring the tourist attractions in Matsue City on foot or by bus. The price is also reasonable, and I recommend skipping the meal and enjoying the taste of the famous restaurants in Matsue City. The sunset over Lake Shinji from the large public bath on the upper floor was beautiful.

  • There are plenty of hot springs, as well as foot and hand baths. You can also relax after bathing.

  • A free shuttle is available from JR Tamatsukuri Onsen Station with a reservation in advance. There are rooms on the upper floors overlooking Lake Shinji and rooms with hot springs that 100% natural hot spring. You can enjoy a relaxing cup of tea in the garden lounge in the spacious lobby. The view of the Japanese garden was also very nice. It was lit up at night and looked fantastic. There are several baths so you can enjoy the hot springs to your heart's content. There are also hand and foot baths that you can easily enjoy.

Hotel Gyokusen

Tamayucho Tamatsukuri 53-2

  • The pure Japanese garden is outstanding

  • "Hotel Gyokusen" is Ryokan (Japanese inn) with a fairly large hot spring. The large public bath is one of the largest in the Tamatsukuri Onsen area, and has a sense of openness and allows you to enjoy the scenery. There is also a cypress bath, a private bath, and a sauna. You can relax in the lounge or take a walk in the spacious traditional Japanese garden. The facilities are extensive.

International Hotel Tamatsukuri

148-2 Yumachi, Tamayu-cho, Matsue-shi

  • You can see Breathtaking view of Lake Shinji.

  • Although the building itself is not Japanese-style, you can feel the Japanese atmosphere in the Japanese-style rooms and baths. You can see Breathtaking view of Lake Shinji from the rooms and the open-air observation bath. There are various dishes, such as Shimane Wagyu beef kaiseki, Japanese-Western kaiseki, and Japanese-Western Buffet, so you can choose your favorite plan.

  • It is a homely Ryokan (Japanese inn).

  • It is a small, cozy Ryokan (Japanese inn). The hot spring is 100% natural hot spring, so it was very clean and the water was very pleasant. There is a private bath separate from the large public bath, but it costs extra, and the tub was spacious, so we were able to relax just with our family. The open-air bath in the large public bath also had a rustic atmosphere, so it was nice to be able to enjoy nature. The food was a kaiseki meal, which looked a little plain, but the taste was good. The Shimane Wagyu beef was also tender and delicious.

  • There is a large Mixed-Gender Hot Springs-gender open-air bath.

  • There is a large Mixed-Gender Hot Springs-gender open-air bath, so married couple can enjoy Tamatsukuri Onsen together at their leisure. There is a separate bath for women. There are also other baths, such as a cypress open-air bath that is alternated for men and women, and a rock-built garden open-air bath with a waterfall utase-yu(a stream of hot water falling down on your shoulders like a small waterfall), so you can enjoy the hot springs in a variety of different baths.
