  • Please tell me about hot spring inns that are vegan!

My otaku friend from overseas is coming to Japan! She's vegan, so I'd like to know of a vegan-friendly hot spring inn! She'll be staying in Tokyo for a while, so I'm looking for one outside of the Kanto region!

Yoshinoya Ryokan

Gokayama Kaimugura 366

  • A hot spring Ryokan (Japanese inn) in a world heritage village

  • This is Ryokan (Japanese inn) located in the "World Heritage Village" of Nanto City, Toyama Prefecture. If the vegan-friendly "Yoshinoya Ryokan (Japanese inn) 's Vermilion Lacquer Vegetarian Kaiseki Meal Plan" is available, we recommend using it. They are particular about using fresh ingredients, so you can enjoy Gokayama's unique ingredients such as firm tofu and locally harvested vegetables full of flavor. If you can't make it in time for dinner, they also offer a service of making a bento box and delivering it to your room. The Ainokura Gassho-style Village and Suganuma Gassho-style Village, both World Heritage sites, are about a 10-minute drive away, making this a recommended hot spring Ryokan (Japanese inn) where you can experience the good old days of Japan.

Blancart Misasa

Tohaku-gun Misasa 388-1

  • Enjoy vegan dishes made with seasonal ingredients!

  • How about this hot spring inn in Misasa Onsen, Tottori Prefecture, which has its own hot spring source? They offer a vegan plan, which allows you to enjoy vegan dishes made with seasonal ingredients. It's not just vegan food, but it's also great that you can experience the four seasons of Japan. The breakfast is a vegan Japanese breakfast made by the head chef using locally produced ingredients, so you can enjoy a truly Japanese-style meal. The hot spring has a large public bath with a mountain view, and there is also a private open-air bath, which costs an additional fee. It's a little far from Tottori Prefecture, but I think it's a very satisfying inn.
