• A hidden gem of a hotel to aim for during Nebuta season

• During the Nebuta Festival, all hotels are fully booked and the accommodation fees are high. This hotel has been renovated in September 2018 and has become much nicer. The rooms in particular are stylish and clean, and I was able to stay comfortably. I stayed at the hotel with a breakfast plan. They also served Aomori 's local cuisine, which was all delicious. If I have the opportunity to come to the Nebuta Festival again, I would like to stay at this hotel.

• Easy access and low prices!

• Although it wasn't Nebuta Festival season, I stayed at Iroha Ryokan (Japanese inn) on a business trip. It's very accessible, just a minute's walk from Aomori Station, but as you can tell from the exterior, it has a historic feel. It's not a hotel with the latest facilities. However, landlady was very friendly, and I felt a warmth that you don't get in a business hotel. Many backpackers from overseas were staying here, probably because it was so cheap. The breakfast was delicious, and I would definitely recommend it if you're just looking for a place to sleep.

• As with all hotels in the Aomori area, they are almost always fully booked and the prices are high. However, I think this hotel is relatively cheaper than others. The hotel is located a 7-minute walk from Aomori Station, and there are convenience stores nearby, so it is convenient. The room is spacious, but the bathroom is small, so I think it's best to just take a shower. There aren't many types of breakfast food, but the bread is delicious, so please try it.

• This hotel is relatively new, having just opened in October 2018. The bathroom is quite large for a business hotel, and you can relax in the bathtub. The single room feels a little small, but there is a sofa and desk so you can relax outside of the bed. I think it will be busy during the Nebuta festival, but if there is a room available, I recommend making a reservation right away.

• I used this hotel to go to the Nebuta Festival when it was still called Washington Hotel. It's not too far from Aomori Station, so if you have a lot of luggage, it's easy to take a taxi. I didn't stay there without meals, so I don't know about the food, but I remember the room was clean and tidy, and the staff were very friendly. It's fine to eat in the hotel, but there are restaurants around the hotel, so it's also nice to try local cuisine.

• I recommend the Aomori Center Hotel, located about a 5-minute walk from Aomori Station. This hotel has a hot spring attached, so it feels like a super public bath. The rooms are about the same size as a regular business hotel and have a desk. The hot spring is a natural hot spring, and you can also enjoy an open-air bath, so you can relax and unwind after your trip. The breakfast buffet is free and has a wide variety of options, so it's very satisfying. However, please note that accommodation fees will rise during the Nebuta festival.
