  • Iya Onsen Hotel Kazurabashi
  • Please tell me about hot spring Ryokan (Japanese inn) recommended by the "Japan Society for Preserving Secret Hot Springs" or popular inns with a similar atmosphere.

I like traditional hot springs and hidden hot springs that are more unique than glamorous hot springs, so I visit a lot of them. There is a membership organization called the Japan Society for Preserving Hidden Hot Springs. Could you tell me about some of the member inns that you have actually stayed at and were satisfied with?

Iya Onsen Hotel Kazurabashi

32 Zentoku Nishiiyayamamura, Miyoshi-shi

  • An inn nestled in a secluded area

  • It is a hidden area where the legend of the fallen warriors of the Heike clan remains. We recommend visiting it because it has the rare "Kazura Bridge." It is a little independent guest cottages from the main road, but you can enjoy the hot springs. There is also a retro bonnet bus, so please enjoy that as well.

Asahidake Onsen Yumoto Yukomansou

Asahidake Onsen, Yukomanbetsu, Higashikawa-cho, Kamikawa-gun

  • We highly recommend this secret hot spring!!

  • I bought a book on secret hot springs and went on a tour of various secret hot springs. Among them, this Ryokan (Japanese inn) is the most wonderful, including the atmosphere of Ryokan (Japanese inn). I live in Kansai, but I travel to this Ryokan (Japanese inn) two or three times a year to enjoy the open-air bath. I recommend the open-air bath in winter.

Kurokawa-So

Manganji 6755-1

  • You can relax and forget about time.

  • How about Kurokawa Onsen? I especially recommend Kurokawaso. It has the image of a quiet hot spring in the forest. There is also a private bath available by reservation. The atmosphere is historic, but also luxurious. For meals, I recommend the horse sashimi and sweetfish.

Ryokan Okutsusou

48 Okutsu, Kagamino-cho, Tomata-gun

  • A rare hot spring in Okutsukyo, Okayama Prefecture

  • This inn is located in Okutsukyo Gorge, Okayama Prefecture, which is famous for its autumn leaves. The hot springs, known as "foot-welling artesian springs," are rare even in Japan. There is only one hot spring nearby, Kagamino Onsen, which is quietly nestled in the rice fields. The cold springs are less than 20 degrees and are slimy with hydrogen sulfide.

Hanamaki Onsen Kashoen

1-125-2 Yumoto, Hananomaki

  • Good hospitality and hot springs

  • There are several Ryokan (Japanese inn) in Hanamaki Onsen. However, I thought that the source of the springs is the same within Hanamaki Onsen, so the water would be the same no matter where you stay. However, due to budget constraints, I stayed one night at this Ryokan (Japanese inn) and one night at another Ryokan (Japanese inn), and found that the water was completely different. The water here makes your skin moist and smooth. The waitresses were also very nice. I recommend it.

Hot Springs Chojukan

Nagai 650

  • Lose track of time and refresh your mind and body

  • I think it fully meets the request for a secret hot spring. The water and atmosphere are both very good. I think it would also be recommended as a "stay" for members of the "Society for Preserving Secret Hot Springs." Time flows slowly, and you can forget about your daily life and enjoy a slightly different space. However, we used it in the summer, and we couldn't help but be a little surprised by the number of insects. (They are attracted to the lights in the rooms at night...) The baths are divided into men's and women's depending on the time of day, which can be a bit complicated, and having to keep an eye on the time when you enter the bath can make you feel busy, but the quaint baths are very satisfying.
