Choyo Tei Hotel

Sounkyo Onsen, Kamikawa-cho, Kamikawa-gun

  • Icefall Festival

  • In winter, you can see the work of making the ice waterfall and the ice waterfall festival from above, which is very beautiful. Right now, they are still in the middle of making the frame, and they will soon pour water on it and freeze it. It's impressive to see the progress. The hotel staff are also working hard to provide hospitality.

Hotel Listel Inawashiro Wing Tower

Listel Park, OazaKawageta, Inawashiro-machi, Yama-gun

  • A hotel where you can enjoy winter to the fullest

  • This is a resort hotel adjacent to a ski resort. Even if you are not used to driving on snowy roads, you can drive safely as it is right next to the highway interchange. You can enjoy winter sports at the ski resort all day long, and relax at the spa. The rooms are spacious and clean, with a great view outside the window, and the food is delicious. The staff are very kind. I think this is a hotel where you can fully enjoy winter.

Hilton Niseko Village

Higashiyama Onsen

  • Snow scenery after all

  • Speaking of winter, it's snowy scenery. And when you think of snowy scenery, it's Hokkaido. Recently, there hasn't been much snow in Hokkaido, so Niseko is the place where you can enjoy playing in the snow for a long period of time. This wonderful hotel is a prime example of this. This is a hotel, not Ryokan (Japanese inn), but the large public bath is wonderful. In winter, you can enjoy a fantastic view of ice and snow right in front of the open-air bath. For meals, there are delicious Japanese restaurants in the hotel, but you can also enjoy meals in the town of Niseko, which is rare for a ski area in Hokkaido. It's also nice that you don't feel confined to the hotel.

Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo

2-10-8 Sekiguchi, Bunkyo-Ku,

  • When you see the snowy scenery, you completely forget you're in the city.

  • The grounds (Chinzanso) have a large garden with lots of greenery, so you can enjoy it throughout the year, but the view is especially special when it snows. The services are of course excellent, so you can relax during your stay.

Ichirino Kogen Hotel Roan

CHI-70-4, Ozo, Hakusan City, Ishikawa Prefecture

  • The open-air bath with a view of the snow and Japanese hearth are great

  • Dinner around Japanese hearth of an old house can be enjoyed all year round, but winter is the most charming. Local sake is delicious when you eat odorless river fish grilled over Japanese hearth. The open-air 100% natural hot spring and can be enjoyed 24 hours a day.

Lake Akan Tsuruga Wings

4-6-10, Akanko Onsen, Akan-cho

  • Experience the joy of winter and a different culture!

  • You can go "wakasagi fishing" on the frozen Lake Akan and eat tempura made from the wakasagi you caught on the spot. There is also a theater facility in Akanko Onsen where you can learn about Ainu culture, allowing you to experience a different culture. We recommend staying at this hotel. There is also a buffet with over 100 types of food, so you can enjoy Hokkaido to the fullest.

Tokyo Metropolitan Government

1300-34 Gora, Hakone-machi, Ashigarashimo-gun

  • All rooms have an open-air bath.

  • It's located right next to Gora Station, so it's very accessible. As the title says, all rooms have an open-air bath, and you can stay at a relatively reasonable price, which is another reason why we recommend it. You'll feel a sense of freedom and comfort that you can't get in your own bath at home.

Tsunagi Onsen Hotel Shion

74-2 Yunodate, Tsunagi

  • Recommended hotels for winter lovers

  • I recommend Hotel Shion in Tsunagi Onsen, Iwate Prefecture. It's a beautiful hotel located on the lakeside. All rooms have a view of Lake Gosho, but the beautiful view of Mt. Iwate is especially appealing in winter. The hot spring itself is comfortable, with the water 100% natural hot spring at Nanbu Magariya, and it feels even more like the hot spring seeps into your body in winter. Highly recommended!

Hotel Green Plaza Hakone

Sengokuhara 1244-2

  • View of Mount Fuji from Hotel Green Plaza Hakone

  • I think that Hotel Green Plaza Hakone is a recommended hotel for winter because you can see Mt. Fuji from there on cold days. Also, Hakone is a famous tourist destination. If you don't mind the price, I highly recommend staying at this hotel.

Koganezaki Furofushi Onsen

Henashi Shimokiyotaki 15-1

  • I recommend it because of Breathtaking view.

  • My wife and I stayed at Ryokan (Japanese inn) on the Sea of Japan side of Aomori Prefecture. It's been years since we stayed there, so I need to confirm, but at the time it was about 22,000 yen for two people in a Japanese-style room with two meals. There is an open-air bath by the sea, and you can watch the sunset while listening to the sound of the waves. By the way, the morning bath was also nice. We were recommended to go in the winter, but I recommend going before the snow falls or when it has finally stopped falling. You can bathe for a long time and the temperature difference is comfortable.
