- I've stayed at many inns with hot springs, but this one was by far the best! The hot spring is located along the river and is 100% natural hot spring spring. There are separate open-air baths for men and women, but they are connected to Mixed-Gender Hot Springs open-air bath, so I think families and couples can enjoy the hot springs together. The food is also carefully sourced, and I was able to enjoy dishes made with plenty of seasonal ingredients. The rooms are spacious, and the maisonette-type room I stayed in had a living space and bedroom separated on the first and second floors, which was nice. There are only one or two other Ryokan (Japanese inn) around the inn, and it is isolated in the middle of nature, so it really feels like a hidden place. However, it is located in Nakashibetsu Town on the eastern side of Hokkaido, so it may be difficult to access. If your base is Sapporo, it is difficult to go there for one night. It is about an hour by car to Shiretoko (as far as I remember...), so if you are planning to go there, this is a place I would definitely recommend.
Answered question: Please tell me a place to stay where the whole family can enjoy Hokkaido's nature and hidden hot springs for less than 20,000 yen per person per night.
