This hotel is about 30 minutes by car from Kagoshima Airport, but even if you don't have a car, there is a bus that goes from the airport to the hotel, so it is convenient. You can see Sakurajima from the large observation bath, and the open-air bath also had a great view, allowing you to feel close to nature. There are many types of private baths, so you can enjoy a variety of baths. The shop sells a lot of local alcohol, including the popular Satsuma shochu (you can also sample it), so you're sure to find your favorite shochu!

Kirishima Onsenkyo Kirishima Hotel had great hot springs and shochu. The large garden bath in the hotel was very spacious and impressive. There are many different types of hot springs, so you can enjoy a variety of baths. The food was also delicious, with Kagoshima's local kaiseki cuisine, which goes perfectly with shochu. There are a variety of alcoholic drinks available, including shochu tasting sets and the hotel's original shochu, so I'm sure you'll find one you like.

If you are traveling to Kagoshima, I recommend "Ibusuki Shusuien." There are foot baths and sand foot baths where you can soak while looking at the garden, as well as a gallery and a shop, and many other services are available within the building. There is a fee for the hot springs, but the private baths were very nice. The scent and atmosphere of the cypress bath was particularly soothing. The food includes seafood caught in the waters off Kagoshima and a kaiseki dinner of the famous black pork shabu-shabu. Of course, you can also enjoy delicious shochu.

How about Ibusuki Onsen Koran no Yu Kinkoro? There is a shochu bar inside Ryokan (Japanese inn), and you can compare a variety of famous sakes. You can enjoy the view of Kinko Bay from the observation bath. There is also an open-air bath. I recommend it because you can enjoy both the hot springs and shochu.

I chose "Ibusuki Minshuku Sennarisou" from the list of guesthouses in Ibusuki City because there are guesthouses and shochu breweries in Kagoshima Prefecture. In Ibusuki City, there are shochu breweries such as Ibusuki Shuzo, Yoshinaga Shuzo, Tamura Gomei Kaisha, and Shiratsuyu Shuzo, some of which can be visited. If you don't mind not staying in a guesthouse, there are many breweries in Kagoshima City, so it's a good choice.

How about a hot spring at the trailhead near Takachiho Gorge? As the name suggests, it is a convenient location for hiking. It is a natural hot spring in Kirishima, and the spring water flows directly from the source. From the open-air bath, you can see the great outdoors, from the Kirishima mountain range to Sakurajima. All rooms are Japanese-style, there are no Western-style rooms. Meals are local cuisine, and for an additional fee only for guests, you can enjoy all-you-can-drink shochu from various brands in Kagoshima. You can also try shochu tasting.

This inn uses the hot spring water from the source of Hinatayama Onsen. In fact, it is said that Saigo Takamori frequently visited this hot spring. The open-air bath made of wood and stone gives off a sense of elegance. There is also an open-air bath in the independent guest cottages room, so you can bathe whenever you like, which is highly recommended. The food is kaiseki cuisine made with the highest quality Japanese black beef raised in Kagoshima Prefecture, and you can drink authentic shochu.
