You can also enjoy a leisurely soak in the weak sodium chloride 100% natural hot spring from the source. You can enjoy an open-air bath made entirely of cypress and a bath made of natural wood with a high ceiling that gives a sense of openness. As for food, you can enjoy kaiseki（a traditional Japanese multiple course meal ）made with Bungo beef and fresh fish from Beppu Bay. I've been there a few times, both for driving from Fukuoka and for a day trip to the baths. (It's a luxury hotel, so it's hard to stay there!) The garden has a Noh stage and a watermill, and the view from there is also excellent.

If you want traditional, natural 100% natural hot spring, the Myoban Onsen or Kannawa Onsen areas are a good choice. In the Myoban area, which is famous for its deposits, you will be satisfied with any of the inns, but this inn in particular is so popular that it is difficult to get a reservation.
